Arctic Freezer / Is it true ?

As with anything even remotely complicated things can sometimes go wrong. Obviously you shouldn't buy a defective cooler, but as said it is not a common fault so it shouldn't stop you from buying an Arctic Freezer. :)

Im glad the guy mentioned it to me actually i wouldnt have wanted a fried cpu

Your temps will just go high.....Don't worry - It's not going to cook your CPU.

Let me get this right, the Freezer 64 Pro has liquid in it ? Doesn't mention it on the OcUK site and I have found no mention in the Arctic Cooler site.

heatpipes are most commonly liquid based

the only way heatpipes will usually leak is down to user error when installing such as placeing a large strain on the heatpipe causing it to crack or punchering it

The heatpipes only leak if you shake the unit vigorously after it has been used for some time.

They do not leak from new. These are the best value for money coolers on the market at the moment - but don't try to ship it in the post second hand. It won't fry your CPU - it'll be all over the inside of the packaging when you open it so you wouldn't fit it. But I'm running 100% failed - 1 x AC Freezer 4 and 3 x Freezer 7 Pro's - all working fine on dispatch, all leaking on delivery. And believe me I wrapped these REALLY well.

Somebody in the wanted section said they have had Arctic Freezer
pipes leak on them.

anybody else had this. ?

Did you read my post? - it only refers to 2nd hand units sent by post.

I read your post but it's abit like saying second hand watercooling kits leak ?

heatpipes are supposed to be hermetically sealed and being second hand
or used will not break a solder joint. But as blitz2163 says it must be user
Error or the units you and others have had have been faulty to begin with.

In any event, no CPU's will fry. It just won't cool efficiently. Higher temps is all - not a CPU deathbringer.

Not at all - I have no idea how these things are tested prior to shipping to the retail store, or what happens to the liquid if it is used for a long time, but I still have 4 units running quite happily here and they've been on and off repeatedly over the last 6-9 months.

Try it for yourself - run the cooler for a couiple of months then wrap it up really well and send it to yourself in the post.

Believe me, I buy and sell stuff on Member's Market all the time and if I sensibly thought I could have sold Meatloaf a Freezer Pro, I would have, but it takes forever to get the insurance out of Royal Mail and given what they cost new, I don't think it's worth risking it second hand.

@ WJA96
I'm not in anyway calling you a lier i believe you.Im just shocked
that a solderd sealed pipe starts leaking on a cooler that has a
longer warranty than most pipe coolers on the market.

Maybe the expansion/contraction of heat is causing the pipe to
split over time ?

I don't think that's the problem, yes it does heat up and cool down but it is so gradual that I would assume there are no real stresses involved. I suppose of part of the pipe was already damaged or weakened through being dropped/hit/whatever, then maybe. I'm not a thermometallurgicalolologist so I could be wrong :D
