Just fitted an E6750 and it has the stock horizontal fan cooler with a duct that extends down from a vent in the side of the case.

I'm not overclocking and I'm not having any problems with heat but it doesn't feel good engineering to me.

The ducting partly obstructs the rear fan and because the CPU fan is not vertical I get the feeling that there is not a lot of air movement around the memory.

I was thinking of replacing the stock cooler with an Artic Pro Freezer 7 - I guess it's a better cooler anyway but also it feels that air circulation inside the case would be better.

What do you think - improvement or waste of £20.

Cheers,

Nigel

The freezer will be a great improvement over the stock cooler, if its setup to expel the hot air to the rear, the rear case fan will help to dissipate the air quicker, you may have to remove the duct from the side of the case though to ensure it doesnt hit the freezer as its a bit tall.

No problem with noise.

But I am having a few problems with the RAM and it seems quite hot to me - I have to run it at 2.1V to get it to run at stock speed and timings. It doesn't seem to be much air movement around it - I imagine the freezer pro may help as it will draw air across it.

The ducting would definitely go - in fact I would replace it with an 80mm fan on the the case side vent like I did when the case held an AMD64 (with freezer pro).

Cheers,

Nigel

I'd deffinatly replace the stock cooler with an ACF 7 pro (unless your going for extreme overclocking) they are cheap, on low speeds very quiet and still cool and give reasonable overclocking potential.
