Arctic Silver 5

AC5 is good stuff. MX3 and MX4 is better by a tiny amount and is non conductive to boot. No idea what comes with the cooler though but it's generally not as good as the aftermarket stuff.

I'd say a tube of mx3 or mx4 is worth a purchase and will last you a good few builds and reseats.

Stop making multiple threads for the same topic.

As I said in your other thread:

If you're going to change the stock compound use MX3/4.

The main advantage over Arctic Silver 5 is that they're non-conductive.

Reduces the change of a mishap.

I use AS5 on my megahalems cooler been on there for about 2 yrs now my temps are great 955 OC @ 3.7 idles at 30c max load normally around 42c max. Just wanna know what are the advantages of using a non conductive paste like mx3/4 was thinking of giving it a go but dont wanna ruin the great temps i get.

Sorry for asking a kinda dumb question but i really dont know

Cheers matey

I think the jist is that MX3/4 doesn't conduct electricity like AS5. If you make a mess there's not the same chance that you make a circuit and short/blow something up.

I found it quite hard to spread the MX3 on the Venom (it's a direct touch heatpipe jobbie) - so ended up using AS5.

not sure if it's applied correctly (smooth-based coolers see easier to gauge), but it appears to be doing the job okay.

Might give it ago if i ever decide to dismount my cooler, the AS5 spreads really well which is what i liked, a small line down the middle then spread of the whole cpu with my finger wrapped in a sandwich bag :D

Really tempted to try water cooling but dont want to change something that gives me great results already which air cooling does
