Kind of like a creme egg question...how do you apply yours?

AMD Datasheet says spread a thin layer over the entire lid of the processor.

Arctic Silver say plonk a grain of rice sized blob in the middle of the die and squish the heatsink down with a twist.

How does everyone on here do it?

Im a grain of rice guy myself, just wondering if the thin layer method is better?

Have found credit card and thin layer works better for me than the rice grain method. Also have found with IHS cpus thinnest layer is not always the best as the ihs/heatsink may be uneven and leave air pockets etc.. unless lapped properly. While not thick by any means i find a fairly opaque layer to be best (as opposed to a thin almost transparent layer)

Like this

Plus a lot of pressure, makes a very thin (mostly transparent) coat over the whole of the IHS if I get the quantity right.
