Are 360's still crashing ?

I had mine (X360) since Dec06, the first two went back cos i was getting read errors on the jet engine DVD drive, or what it three of them that needed to go back? I dunno i've lost count now.

Anyway I managed to forget to include a controller in one of my returns so at least i bagged a free controller for all my troubles. Works a treat for my PC..
Thanks Bill !

I've also got a PS3 which I am very happy with. Got it on Nov06 (US launch day) not had any problems whatsoever. It's a much better build quality than the 360.. The only snag was it didn't have many games so i had to go get myself a 360 as i could no longer play my ps2 or original 360 after all the eye candy my ps3 gave me. GFX both are as good as each other.

I had 1 360 since January 2006 which does still work now but it's banned from XBL so not really using it anymore, my current one I got last month new is working fine though.

got my 360 in january 06
never had a problem with it
only time it has 'crashed' was when one of my friends set it up infront a radiator :/ i moved it away, turned it back on, and it was all hunky dory :D

My PS3 has crashed several times - it especially likes to do it at the start of a race in MotorStorm but that's probably bad programming.

Interesting to see about the router issues above - ever since I got my PS3, my Speedtouch wireless router has gone haywire. It cannot sustain a wireless connection and keeps deactivating itself! Weird!

Just got my second 360 yesterday (sold the first - it behaved admirably for the 12 months I had it). I was quite shocked to see the manufacturing date of 31-Oct-06. It does seem quieter than the old one though, until the DVD spins up!

Kinetic parts in a machine will drastically reduce its lifetime. This is why 360s and PS3s seem to struggle and crash at times (nearly all issues are drive/hard drive related), while consoles like the SNES, N64 and Mega Drive seem to live practically forever.

they crash AND break all the time, had 4 but got fed up, i did nothing wrong with them, kept them well ventilated, also made sure i didnt damage them in anyway but nope they still did it, my friend got one in febuary, and it had to be replaced 2 weeks after he bought it. The 360 may have more and better games than other consoles, shame they were most probably all made in a shed in mongolia by a load of asian sex slaves or something.

just a quick reminder that microsoft has extended 360 warrenties to 1 year. not everyone seems to know that yet

news here ( old news , was posted in dec 06!)

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/1222-xbox360warrantyextended.htm

This holiday season, shoppers can buy with added confidence as Microsoft expands its warranty coverage of the Xbox 360™ video game entertainment console from 90 days to one full year. Microsoft has announced that any Xbox 360 purchased in both the United States and Canada will include this added warranty coverage, and it even applies to those who have already purchased an Xbox 360 console and who are still within their first year of ownership!

I've had mine since July 06 and it's only crashed once at the big battle in oblivion, although I had been playing it for about 6 hours. My mate bought his 3 weeks ago and has crashed non stop on nearly every game

UK buyers get a year's warranty as standard due to UK law. US buyers did not.

Yes can you imagine how PEE'D off all the US customers were? Spending $399 on a console that only had 90days warranty on it? Especially with the horrendous amount of failures, AND to rub salt in their wounds, Sony and Nintendo were offering 12months.. Microsoft had no choice but to up their warranty to 12months to meet the competition, and to not have a mob gather outside their Seattle offices with their pitches and forks, burning crosses outside.
