are 4400 good for overclocking

As with all chips, some are and some aren't. A friend of mine bought one in the sale a week or so back but it took over 1.6v to get it stable (ish) at 2.6ghz. To keep temps in check he had to back down to 2.5ghz which isn't all that good at all.

Obviously he might have just got a duff one, but I don't think I heard any good stories about this batch overclocking well. Given that Gibbo keeps pointing out that the single core 4000+s are overclocking great, I guess that the current batch of X2 4400s is unimpressive. The X2 3800s though seem to be a mixed bag, some great overclocks, some fairly poor ones.

they're not as good as the old san diego's unfortunately. The highest your likely to get is 2.7 ghz if you're lucky, 2.5 if unlucky. Opterons tend to be better as they include the CCBBE and CCB1E steppings that are capable of 3 ghz, but some are also the same duff CCBWE stepping that 4400's are.
