Are all cheap switches made equally?

i have various cheap switches with no problems, although decent 100mbit managed switches can be had that cheap from the bay it doesent seem worth buying new.

Managed switches are total overkill for a home setup and can actually be counter-productive as they introduce latency which, if you're a gamer, can be disastrous.
 
I have a Netgear GS116 gigabit switch; small chassis, doesn't heat up, no fan : perfect. And it was around £50 off e***. I think this is unmissable. They also make 8 ports, and 5 ports ones of course.
