Might sound a bit of a silly question, but...

I have :-

2 x 512MB Corsair XMS6400C4

And also

2 x 512MB GEIL 6400 ULL

Now, if I was to buy another pair of the GEIL RAM from OCUK, am I going to get the same RAM as I have, so that I end up with 4 sticks of the same stuff, or are there variations on the same stuff, that wont work for me?

The Missus got me a pair of RAM for xmas, and its turned out to be DDR and so thats annoyed me, but also, a while back, I had a pair of Corsair XMS4400 Platinum DDR RAM and I got another pair and they turned out to be TwinX! - Now, thats fine as I have plenty of boards that will take it, but now, I already have 2 spare sticks of DDR2, so the last thing I need is yet more RAM that I cannot use.

So, will they be the same do you recon?

This is the stuff Im sure is what I have you see
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX21GB6400UDC)

Its orange heatspreaders on it too

Makers do change the ICs in the modules they use, often without changing the name, so you could be lumped with different ICs. Chances are they will work together, but can't gaurentee it.

Hmmm... Yeah, dont I know it...

I did the same some time ago, when I found out that Crucial El-Cheapo sticks were often actually ballistix...

I bought a whole host of them... Erm, 9 sticks I had in the end, and some were double sided, some single, and some had 8 chips and some had 4 and a few even only had 3 chips!!! - all were supposed to be the very same sticks?

Not that I care, cos I paired up 3 sets and of those, I had 2 sets that were ok for about 260FSB... More than enough for my socket A systems.

The only thing I think I can do to be 100% sure is to sell off both my pairs and get a pair of 2GB really rather than getting another pair of 512?

Decisions decisions eh?

I might ask OCUK themselves though!
