Are all RGB cables the same??

The reason I ask is that I just picked up the mario kart gamecube bundle brand new for £30. The bundled cable doesn't give the best image quality, but the official RGB lead costs £20. I've seen unofficial (mad catz, or joytech or something) ones for £6.99. Will they deliver better quality than the bundled lead? will they equal the official lead in terms of output quality?

Cheers!

check your local hmv, i got the official cable for a tenner from there.

AFAIK there is actually technical differences in the actual nintendo one to the unofficial ones, I rem reading somewhere some of them arent even true rgb. But taht could just be poo. I always try to get official ninty stuff as it always proves to be better in the end.

But as you say if its gonna be almost quadrupple the money its prob not owrth it. Maybe flea bay ?

Huge difference between the official cable and the unofficial ones. There is only 1 unofficial cable that is truely RGB that I have found and that is still noticeably inferior to the official product.

I have the Blaze Ultimate RGB cable for the Gamecube and tbh I was very disapointed with the quality. Got the same Blaze cable for my PS2 which really was great picture quality so it's a bit odd the Gamecube one isnt on par.
No doubt the official one is better but I can't say I could justify spending £20 on a cable when the entire machine only cost £30... personally I'm finding the bog standard one it shipped with to be quite adequate.

Definitely go for official, it has to pass it's own strict tests, so you'll always get good quality. sometimes 3rd party are better, not in this situation.

This makes me wonder whether an official Microsoft RGB scart cable for my Xbox 1 would be superior to the Joytech one I'm currently using, which on my TV and to my eyes looks little different to the standard composite scart cable.

I read several user reviews of the Joytech cable which said that the Joytech one made a big difference too. So either they notice these things more than me, or their TVs show a bigger difference than mine does. Or it's the placebo effect where they believe it's a big difference when in fact it's a minor one.

The only way I'm gonna know for sure is either buy an MS one myself, or to hear from someone who has tried both the Joytech and MS one on the same television :)

Well it certainly wasn't a placebo effect with me. I haven't seen the quality of the joytech images so I can't help you there.

Hmmm, well I wish I'd listened to you guys. I got the madcatz one for £7 and everything looks the same or worse than the original cable. Make no mistake it'l be going back and I'll root out an official cable from somewhere.

Oh, and I got the console from Argos - it was the last one in my local store!
