Are Americans Dumb

3 people is a rather small sample, I can go to the local special school and pick out a sample of 10 kids that cannot speak or walk...

get a bigger sample a few 10's of 1000 and devise an inteligence test, sample also needs to be some how selects at random..

you have picked a very small sample and its not even random..

So whats the problem with that?

It worked and it saves lives.

And He was told it was lawful, by his lawyers.

The problem with that is that its torture...as for it being lawful well i suppose his lawyers had no choice but to tell him that...from a moral perspective it isnt and having him come out and say that he agreed with it is beyond the realms of stupidity. But then this coming from a man who said God told him to invade Iraq...well he isnt too bright is he??...he maybe bright academically but then i know a few people who are like that ie bright academically but when it comes to logical things, they arent the sharpest pencils in the box:p.

As for it working??...well i suppose it did...after all the guy who gave them info on a plot to bomb Canary wharf had to be waterboarded over 160 times until he finally gave in and gave them the info they needed....probably due to the fact that he was fed up of being waterboarded constantly lol.

You do have to wonder how Sarah Palin is within reaching distance of the US Presidency though. When she was McCain's running mate you could accept that as a one off, perhaps a desperate stunt by McCain. Yet after what everyone witnessed over the last 2 years, a sizeable chunk of American people decided that they liked what they saw and continuted to support her...

Although I suppose that is a discussion for another thread.

I think it's just a simple case of many lonely American men finding solace in 'frapping' over the daily news bulletin.

Americans are indeed dumb, much like the English are - there's a show I saw once called Jeremy Kyle - that proved it for me :-)

In the US they have a show called Jackass. Not just saying that to say it the show is really called that. Anyway, OMG these guys are idiots, you have to see it, to really get the stupidity. It is prob. on youtube.

Torture is never justified. I don't care how many lives it saves.

Moral absolutes, yo.

Should have seen the paper editoral, looked very supportive of waterboarding to me. (Andy McNab giving it big licks)

"
Mr Cassidy, of Finsbury Park, North London, accepted people unaffected by terrorist outrages may not agree with the families' views. But he said: "If waterboarding is something that can stop some people trying to kill others, I have no problem at all with it.

"These are evil people and they are trying to kill you, me and other people here. Unfortunately they did kill my son.

"If you ask any of the families of 7/7 victims I'm sure they would come up with the same answer.

"Anyone who hasn't suffered probably wouldn't want to see anyone tortured or abused. But these people have no thought for anyone. They are even prepared to kill themselves to kill others. "

Yes, because of course you aren't blinkered enough to realise that most of the 'subjects' captured were worthless non combatants or nothing at all like what the US initially claimed.

"They can't shout about torture when they are prepared to kill others in the name of Allah or because of hatred for the West."

It's not the terrorists moaning about torture. It's innocent people complaining about torture along with the those fighting the moral argument.

heh you've clearly never seen it's British counter part Dirty Sanchez, jackass is tame by comparison :p.

Why do you think that?

To start with he graduated from Yale university, one of the top educational institutions in the world, and also went through Harvard Business School gaining an MBA - the only president ever to have done this. For all that he puts across, Bush is not a stupid man. He makes gaffes, he's not a great public speaker, and he may even play this up to come across as a friendly clown, but he is far from stupid.
