Are Apple displays really worth the mega bucks?

Title says it all really. I like the spec on the Apple displays and it looks like they seem to have about double the pixels of the majority of others but are they worth a hole in the bank?

not really they are dated now comparing to other brands out there, i have belinea 102035 and my wife apple 20" screen, tbh my belinea is better in image quality etc.

generally they use panels which are used elsewhere in the market for much cheaper. For instance, the Apple 20" WS Cinema uses the same S-IPS panel as the Dell 2005FPW. However, the Apple's are a unique design and are well built, that's pretty much what you're paying for. overpriced imo though

OK cheers i dont think Ill buy an apple display if I can get jsut as gd or better quality elsewhere for cheaper. Guess Ill look into others more then.
Thanks again.

Do what I did - buy a Dell 2405FPW and don't look back. Sure, the APPL displays are nice, but they're a lot of money for what you get. Right off the top, only a DVI connection. The Dell offers DVI, VGA, S-video, component, composite - plus several different card readers! Both offer USB ports.

If you're looking for something smaller, try a Dell 2005FPW.

I would have got a 2405 but got a 2005 instead, the upgrading costs to run games at full detail on a 2405 would just murder me over time.
