are arsenal really "that" good?

well Man U's early poor form has been nowhere near as bad as last years early poor form and we pushed the gooners to the 2nd to last game of the season so saying the Arse are going to walk it is way off its gonna be damn close this season but i expect Arsenal to still win it because they have a better attacking line up.

I think Man U defensively have really caught up with the likes of Liverpool and the Arse this year but the injury problems have been a real hinderance for Fergie and ultimately that is what may cost him.

And your point is ??????
The main reason for this forum is for people to air their opinions,if you don't agree with someones opinion at least make an effort to give reasons as to why you think their opinion is flawed.
I don't mean to pick on you,it's just that there seems to have been a few posts lately in a similar vein........

i dont see how he can debate it really since there is no way in hell Arsenal are going to run away with the league thats just cockney wishful thinking.

The Prem League's stats show that Man U's defense have only conceded more goals than Middlesbrough and Chelsea.

United have more points and lost few games at this point than last season.

So come on debate it then!!!

or are you coming up with ways to increase your post count :p ;)

Yes, Arsenal really *are* that good.

They have the best attacking first 11 in the league.

We've yet to find the best defensive first 11, it'd usually be Leeds or Liverpool but neither are playing well this season.

I think Everton will finish 6-8th in the league, along with Chelsea when Zola's form drops. Manyoo will be top 3, as will Liverpool if they sort their game out. I'm hoping Leeds will do something but I can only see a mid-table berth being possible now.

Arsenal will win the league.

If manyoo or Arsenal could knock a decent defense together between them they'd walk it.

As it is with Adams gone and Keown still the same old (poor) player and Cygan not living up to the expectations and Sol not attaining the level of playing he had at Spurs Arsenal are poor at the back, especially while playing Seaman.

Manyoo have ruined Rio, have Brown (poor) and O'Shea (too young) at centre-back. In fact their best centre half this season was Silvestri in Europe but they need him at left back and I don't think I need to mention the Nevilles :D

Rio- I think its far to early to access Rio at Man U, he has been very unlucky with injuries and needs games to come in some kind of form...and when he does it will be fantastic.

Brown- I really dont think youve watched Man U in the last few weeks. Since Wes has come back from injury he has been fantastic as Andy Gray stated during the game he seems he is back to the level he was during Man Us treble winning season. Hopefully he can stay clear of injury and form a partnership with Rio.

O'Shea- Young Johnny has been brilliant since he has come into the side. He has all the attributes to become a world class defender and besides the first half against Basle, he has been fantastic.

Silvestre- I had big doubts about Mickey being good enough for United at the start of the season but he has come on leaps and bounds in the last two months and is turning into a fantastic left sided defender.

Nevilles- Fergie threatened to sell them after the Man U derby and they have got their asses into gear ever since. They need to continue this kind of effort and quality for the rest of the season. They are playing for their Man U careers.

arsenals defense has been hurt by keown being missing, cygan is crap he is way too slow and that was evident in the man utd and other matches, our best defense:

lauren Campbell Keown Cole

we havent used that in a while and once we do i think our defensive issues will be mainly solved, i really dont understand why wenger doesnt use Upson i havent seen him in a while but for reading he has been class so i really would like him paired up with campbell but wenger insists on playing crappy cygan

lol

You guys predicting on who is gonna win the league in Dec....lol.
You forget 4 big factors..

1 - Depends how far they get in Champions league

2 - Same as above with FA Cup.

3 - Suspention (which Arsenal and Manu will get).

4 - Injury

everyone seems to be predicting the outcome on current form..
Wake up and smell the coffee guys...

we are predicting who will win the league cuz thats the nature of this sport and thats what makes it fun. isnt that the sort of banter we all have with our mates (my teams better than yours, my teams gonna win the title, your team sucks, hahaha, etc)?

some people are in this belief that arsenal are the best team in europe or something. does the best team really lose 5 games in a row? does the best team lose 4 games before christmas, in their own league?

as far as saying real madrid being the best in europe: in EU cup, they probably are the best, cuz they up their level for these games. but in their own league they dont seem to be very good (over the last 1.5 seasons).

on judging if they are the best team in EU, it depends on what the weighting is on the EU Champ league performance and what weighting performing well in your league is given. personally, i would give equal weighting to both the champ league and domestic league, as well as the country your league is in (spain getting the heaviest bias, switzerland and the like getting the lowest bias and every other league falling somewhere in between). on this basis, i would pick a team that is riding high in their domestic league (preferably lying top of their league) and has scored the most points in their games in the champ league, to date.

from the above and based on this years competitions so far, i would have to say Valencia are currently the best team in europe, this season. they have scored 17 pts from their 7 games so far this season (scoring 16 pts in stage 1) and are currently lying in 2nd place in the best league in europe.

comparing that with arsenal, they've scored 13 pts in champ league to date, and lay in 1st position in the league (our league imo, being the 2nd best).

and like i said, the best team in europe doesnt lose 5 games in a row, in all competitions. you cannot leave out this fact.

also u guys seem to think that had bergkamp played against man utd, that arsenal wouldve won? well, arsene wenger who i believe to be among the best 2 managers (currently rated as best manager in the country) in the country, decided that bergkamp shouldnt start and i dont think any of us here are in a position to question his decision. remember wenger probably has a better footballing/tactical mind than every member on this forum and im pretty sure he strongly believed that the team he put out against man utd was the best team he could field on the day, barring inuries.

also i feel that arsenal only won the league last year cuz of the terrible start man utd had last year. they lost something like 6 games in 7. had they lost only say 3 (which is what has happened this year), i think they wouldve won the title. this strongly leads me to believe that arsenal have very little chance of winning the title. that and the fact that in january, man utd get back about £100m worth of players (becks, keane, ferdy, butt, plus the extra players we buy when the transfer window opens).

an interesting statistic is that when arsenal won their 2 titles. both years, they won the old trafford fixture. when they dont win that fixture, they dont win the title. this indeed is why everyone is getting excited that arsenal are no longer title favourites this year.

also on another note, how many arsenal supporters think they are gonna get any points from their next game against valencia. i for one think they will lose that game, because i dont rate this year's arsenal very highly. although i would like to see any english side beat a spannish side, cuz thats the only way our league status is gonna increase.

off topic:
did u read about rivaldo and his opinions on the best english player. i couldnt stop laughing when i heard who he thought is the most dangerous english player...his first name begins and ends with 'E'.:D

the best league doesnt loose 4 do they, they only loose 3 o-0

no one said that stop making up comments, we said it would have been better if bergkamp played

Why dont u listen to what roy keane said, he said arsenal deserved it and were the better team nothing to do with how utd performed he even admited that they dont get the credit they deserve and every one yaps on about utd doing bad, this is something that amazes me about SOME of u man utd u always have an excuse for ur teams failure. I dont like keane but i gotta admit that guy is honest he doesnt lie very often.

You could have won it heh? only once in ur history u have had more than 87 points at the end of the league and that was when u were at ur very best. And if arsenal hadnt had their usual bad patch we would have won it by even more, see that arguement works both ways.

Remember utd have to rely on arsenal loosing matches not the other way round, werent u waiting for us to slip up last season? didnt happen did it, so u beat an arsenal team that played no where near their potential and suddenly ur the best again, u havent seen arsenal at their best, and ur players arent worth £100m (keane - 20 rio - 25 beckham 25 butt 10-15 and that is at max and looking at their past record)

yeah arsenal can only win the title when we beat u at OT

hmmmm didnt we beat them at highbury 2 yrs ago, i guess we will see Tuesday who is the better team. I dont rate man utd very highly they are the 2nd best team in the premier league 90% of neutral supporters will tell u that ur just in denial. also if valencia are the best why arent they top of their league instead of being 4 points behind

lmao my friend told me about that he reckons heskey is the best english player lmao :D

Geddoutahere.... 'nobody in the Prem' can beat them.

If every team in the league was playing as good as they
could play, with no injuries then I'm sure Man U would win the league.

Just take the midfield for example,

Giggs
Keane/Butt
Scholes/Veron
Beckham

Easily the best in the country, second to only Real Madrid in
Europe.

If both United and Arsenal were equal, then United would
still win the league because they ooze passion, drive and
commitment (spelling :) ).

The one thing I worry about is when Sir Fergie and
Keane are not around any more. Where will the above come
from then.

Arsenal even after their terrible run are still ahead of everyone! They won their champs league group and are leading the second round group after drubbing AS Roma in italy and are more than capable of getting a result at Valencia.

Bleat on about how crap Arsenal have been but remember where you are relative to us. Remember how we played at the start of the season? That was why people were saying we were the best in europe, i've not seen United play like that for years.

Giggs - Pires is far more consistent, scores more and sets more up
Keane/Butt - Butt LOL, Keane just shaded by Vieria
Scholes/Veron - Veron LOL, Scholes good player rate him highly
Beckham - When's the last time you saw him play well exactly?

If i recall correctly Arsenal were oozing all the things you just said United do, it's not lost for good and this will be evident after the christmas period.
