anyway why is wenger supposed to be a transfer god all of a sudden ? he has bought enough bad players in his time at arse

Cos the crap ones he bought didnt cost anything, he didnt pay 28 million for any of his flops. The most i think was on Wiltord, his record speaks for itself really . Pires, Vieria, Gilberto, Llungberg, Anelka, Henry, Lauren, Petit, Campbell (well he was free :p). Sure there's more can't think though.

no but he did buy a lot of his players for a lot of money before the transfer market went crazy

Fergusons record also speaks for itself and anyone can see that Wenger still has a helluva along way to go to prove he's as good in the transfer market as Fergie. You also seem to forget that through our awesome youth system the only players we have to buy are top drawer world class players to improve our first team whereas wenger could have bought any old muppet to improve arsenal when he took over.

Looks like Arse spent more on an inferior side to me.

How can you include players that come from the youth squad in that, they aren't free transfers? I read a report on soccernet about this and it is the opposite of what you say. I'll see if i can find it.

Wenger beats Fergie in transfer game

:D

Overall Wenger has spent an estimated £112,950,000 in the transfer market but he has recouped £86,294,000, leaving a deficit of just £26,656,000.

That compares to Ferguson's £142,050,000 spent, £47,095,000 recouped, leaving a deficit of £94,955,000.

The other title-challenging clubs also have significant deficits. Liverpool have spent £120,990,000 with a deficit of £60,675,000; Newcastle have spent £124,290,000 with a deficit of £44, 715,000; Leeds £110,935,000 with a deficit of £47,765,000 and Chelsea £116,230,000 with a deficit of £61,970,000.

Wenger has been criticised, even among Arsenal supporters, for a number of poor signings. His most expensive acquisition, Sylvain Wiltord, is often cited as a £13m flop, but he contributed crucially last year to the Double. The jury is still out on £10m Francis Jeffers. Most of those that could be regarded as failures were signed relatively cheaply or on free transfers.

You can't really have player from the youth system because you're talking about transfer dealings.

I thought Solskjaer was over 3 million and I thought Veron was 28.

Wenger has been much better. Just look at Anelka, Overmars and petit!

And he's still replaced them with better players for much less (Vieira, Pires and Ljungberg)

also 3 premiership wins to 1 in last 4 years says it all really

oh one more thing we also won the champions league how well have you done in the same time

Thats it lose a battle and change the argument .

havn't changed the argument at all mate just proving that being good at balancing the books doesnt always bring success

also minus the figures from last season and this i.e RVN, Forlan, Veron, Ferdinand and the figures would have made far more interesting reading

Gilly yeah he was 28 (veron) but Solskjaer was ionly 1.5mill according to the only source i could find on the net in the 2 minutes i spent looking

veron28
Ferdinand 28
RVN 18
Forlan 7

= 81million

142- 81 = 61million 47million spent = deficit of 14million

who knows what we would get if we actually sold some of our players or actually had to buy a full squad rather than bring them through the youth sysytem.

For Newcastle try this: http://nufc.com/html/transfers.html

Toon under Bobby Robson have spent £46,290,000
And have regained £21,050,000 a difference of -£25,240,000

Under Ruud Gullit spent £33,400,000
And regained £25,775,000 a difference of -£7,625,000

And under Kenny Dalgleish spent £33,300,000
recouping £27,150,000 a difference of "6,150,000

That takes us back to Feburary 1997 when Kenny Dalgleish took charge and a defecit of £39,015,000.
