Are automatics fun?

I drove 580 miles in the 9-5 auto on friday and it has no cruise control. Keeping speed at 70 was really difficult and I really didn't like the experience all that much, esp when driving in traffic. I wanted to drop a gear and go go go but all it did was rev and hesitate. I was probably doing it wrong, first time I've ever driven an auto for a lengh of time.

I drove 46 miles across the Midlands

...it would have be so much better with an automatic

...due to the traffic.
