just wanting to know, but are B Grade products used?

i just got a P35C-DS3R, and its clearly used, and dusty.

was wondering if i should return, or is this normal?

Yeah, as far as i know B-Grades can be repaired rma items or unwanted items returned to the store. They have to be labelled B-Grade as their seals have been broken.

So it looks like it's pretty much luck based on what you get ?
Since you can get some old RMAd repaired stuff just as well as unwanted 2day old deal ;). Or can you somehow get the info on what it is exactly ?

You might be able to find out from OC what the contents are (i.e which manuals/cables are present) but i doubt they will tell you the nature of the component, as they'd never sell the returned stuff

well i just for a GigaByte P35C-DS3R, and its DOA

wasnt packet well either, just a a brown box on the outside of the mobo box, with a bit of plastic, so the mobo box was moving a lot inside there. :(

gonna call OcUk tomorow for a refund

Just curious, but how much did you pay for it?

I noticed you have been trying to source a cheap C2D motherboard like i have...! I finally got a 650 today, after reading there aint much between the 650 the 680 and even the p35 :)

Yep that's pretty much it. B-grade can range from an item that has simply had its original seal broken or outer packaging removed through to an unwanted item that has been used, or a repaired item we've had back from the manufacturer.
All B-grade items are tested and fully working.

OcUK can't go into detail on the particulars of a B-grade item due to the amount that has to be kept track of.

hey, yeah i was, paid £45 inc postage for it.

:(

now im gonna hopefully get that back, and wait till the end of the month for another £40 and grab a brand new, from a retailer, P5K-E wifi

i have now gone through second hand p5n-e and ga-p35c-ds3r both broken :(

and a 7800gt (second hand) got it today, its artifacting aswell :(

i AS5ed the 7800GT, and ill let it break in over night, running the 3d mode of ATI tool, and hopefully itll be better.

Not having much luck!!

Im only just getting into 2nd hand parts, got a P182 which is crackin :D and getting a Asus P5N-E SLi... i hope its ok tho! You have me worried!

Just need a nice wee C2D, RAM and PSU now :)

Thats a shame about the 7800GT... did the previous owner have the cooler off...? Maybe the AS5 will help :)

i got it for a 7600GS and £15.

yeah he had the cooler off, his was under water....

i even downclocked it to no avail.

he said if ti continues to happen, hell take it back :)

From what I understood when I phoned, B grade products are generally products that have been returned as faulty and been repaired by the manufacturer, or have some contents missing such as maybe a driver CD. But yes, there is a very high chance your item has been used inside someone elses rig beforehand.

Its always worth trying out B grade stuff as if they are faulty returns, they are tested by both OCUK and the manufacturers, so less chance to fail than a normal item :)

I managed to pick up a b grade WD Caviar 500GB for an utter steal @ £51 inc. VAT & postage :)

I got a b-grade mobo cheap. That was it, just the mobo. Not that it bothered me in the slightest. Driver disks are pretty much out of date when they are pressed, and ive got a lot of cables lying around. Destruction manual . . Pffft. The backplate might have been nice though.

yeah, i got the mobo, manual, original box, but no back plate :(

no cable, or anything else, but i dont need anything else.

just to make sure the mobo is at fault, ill buy some purple shirt ram tomorow to check. if its still not booting into windows, ill give OcUK a call

There are somethings I don't think I'd buy B-grade, and motherboard is one of them. Too many cables etc that could go missing. If looking to overclock I'd also be a bit wary of CPUs, as I suspect some of them are poor clockers.

Whereas for example I'd have no qualms about getting B-grade memory - it's all in one, and chances are it could have been returned due to compatability issues
