Are barcelonas...

Yes they are native quad core but we have no idea on the performance.

Fudzilla as quite a lot of news on bacelona and its gen, but as always i would take it with a grain of salt.

What deadline?

I think these chips will be good in applications that require a high level of core-core communication.. which is none in the gamer/casual user space :p

Probably a worthy competitor to mid core products, but I suspect Penryn will beat it *sighs*.

Bring on the next generation please! :)

this CPU is for Socket F-1207 and it not for AM2 socket 940... but there will be new Socket AM2+ and AM3 with same 940 pins as AM2 so it will be new name as Phenom and other new codename and all these 3 sockets are backward as support.

AMD will release new Socket F+

If the Native / non native are similar priced I would go for the one that gave me a performance benefit.

As there are no current Native quads, I'll use C2Q without the stigma of it not being native quad as it's still a quad core chip on a single Processor package. ;)

If you had choice of native or non native, what would you prefer if sim prices etc ?.

Native.

Supposedly less heat, less latency in CPU communication/memory access...

If you HAVE to buy a CPU right now and are an overclocker, you won't go wrong with any Core2Duo or the cheapest Core2Quad, according to your budget.

However, I can't imagine why you would absolutely HAVE to buy a CPU at this point in time - you might as well wait until AMD and Intel show their respective hands...
