Are Beano comics worth anything?

I had a similar collection including annuals such as Topper etc dating back to the early seventies - I had a look around on eBay etc and they weren't worth much, I ended up giving them all to charity.

I think they would go for some good money if you can find some collectors.

There are people who collect comics and like to have every issue in their collection.

Maybe find some websites or forums they hang out on.

These are the kind of thing you won't shift for years, then you'll give them to charity or whatever, and two weeks later you bump in to a person who is a rabid collector and would've given you £5k for the lot.

It's just the way it goes, and yes, I'm drawing on many previous experiences here.

Years ago (going back at least 20+ years) my parents garage was flooded which contained a rather large collection of star trek magazines. They got a very healthy payout from the insurance company.

I'm not suggesting you flood it lol, but I would have thought beano comics would go for a decent sum of money.

Certain ones I think and they have to be like from the 50's or something and they have to be in really mint condition, otherwise not much.

I did have a copy of 2000 AD comic issue no. 1 which I heard was worth a bit... bloody mother chucked out my stash of comics because she thought I was too old for them had it in a plastic folder to keep to safe and everything, I like to remind her of that every so often.

"You're never going to let me forget that are you?"
"Nope!"

Flooding the loft is either going to take serious effort above sea-level or a massive hole in the roof! :D

Mm you would think so but after googling/checking auctions...nada. UNLESS it is a few select ones.

I had a rather varied collection of Dark Horse (mainly Aliens series) and 80s/90s manga (Appleseed, Akira etc.) which went to a specialist comic auction. Around 150 - 200 comics in all. Turns out that most of it was only worth a few quid a set thanks to being printed in the millions back in the day. Early Aliens and a few rare-ish graphic novels pulled in £130.

Must have cost me well in excess of £500 to buy them in the first place...

Last year I helped someone clear and move into a 2 up - 2 down terraced house he had bought.
When we looked in the loft, there were hundreds of 8 track cassette tapes, a player, amp and speakers in there, all carefully packed up.
He tried to find a buyer and eventually had to put them in a skip - from where they all disappeared overnight :D
