I've got a couple of rubber keyed TV remotes, and both of them gradually stopped working because of the buttons. You had to push harder and harder to get them to work, and then they stopped working completely. Before buying a new remote, I just wondered whether this type of failure has an easy fix?

Thanks

Well you could try this easy but probably low success rate method.

Take batteries out.

Hold down the power button for 1 minute to discharge any remaining power in the remote.

From top to bottom firmly press all the buttons multiple times and give it some slaps in your hand.

Put batteries back in and have a go.

If not worked then repeat the process over and over a few times.

This method sounds ludicrous but the guy who made the video for this had quite a few people in the comments saying that it worked.
Also many who said it did not.

Might be worth a go.

When one of ours packed up, we bought a compatible one, rather than original. Bit cheaper and worked fine.
Was an oldish TV though, not sure if they are available for all the modern smart TVs, but maybe an option.

you could try cleaning the contacts, but they are probably just worn out

Could just be the carbon/rubber contact area, mine starting acting up a while ago. You can clean the pads with rubbing alcholol but that is just a temp fix. Only other solution to replace the contact pads ie auction site code for my own
