hi guys maybe a dumb question but i have been looking at going conroe with the asrock uatx baord

thing is the conroe im looking at (6400 i think it is ) runs at 1.86 ghz now my current amd 3200 is running at 2ghz i really wanted to try and increase my cpu speed for games and stuff

looking at it with no overclocking would this actually be a step down re gaming only and not multitasking

would i be best going for a amd 4000 single core

a 2.4ghz E6600 is ruffly FX-60 speed.

They all clock to 2.8ghz atleast whihc is FX-62+

So at 1.86ghz it will beat your AMD easily.

Conroe at the same clock speed is up to 40% quicker.

So yes, it is quicker at games.

ok thx for that

not sure on gfx yet

either gonna be a 7900 if i can afford it

although i like the look of the x1800xt but i have never had a ati card before and not sure how to set them up and configure

X1900XT His is the best IMO atm.

Its the same as nvidia, install the card, power, install drivers. Done.

When overclocking then there is a guide by me stickied in the gfx card forum.

I concur, on a side note, is the only concorde still flying the one magabe (zimbabwean president??) has?

Its not so much that the conroe is quicker in games its the fact it releases the potential of your GPU which could otherwise be crippled by a slower cpu.

I noticed a leap of 2400 points in 3dmark06 going from a [email protected] to a [email protected]. GPU was clocked exactly the same, the only difference was the CPU (and of course them memory and mobo).

None still fly and he has never had one, only British Airways and Air France flew them(apart from the manufacturers).

From every single place i have been reading a 6300 @ 2.59 beats a fx62 in every benchy and its faster than a stock 6600 too.

Where on earth did you hear that Mugabe had a Concorde ?

I dont think BA or AF are in the habit of giving their supersonic pride and joy to African Dictators.

I heard when he was having his palace built, (just down the road from a shanty town btw :( ) He had the runway, (yes it has it's own airport) specifically built larger so that his concorde could be used there! Mind this information did come from a bloke in a pub!
