Are dogs magic?

Jack Russells never sleep, I'm sure of it, mine never ever keep still.

I really think that her puppies won't make it till birth cos she runs round the house and garden like a mad dog!

On another note - dogs and leads etc, why is it my bitch who is almost 3 can be taken for a walk without a lead, she will stay near me and not run away. However the boy dog who is 1 year old.... he does not at all, if the front door is opened and he manages to escape all hell breaks loose, he runs out and flee's for his life, there is no controlling him, he has to be on a lead. Is it normal for 2 dogs of the same breed be so different regarding walk obidence. There general temperament is similiar in most other aspects though, well my bitch has never been a barking dog and the boy does bark a bit more, but other than that similiar.

It's fairly common that male and females of the same breed will have different personalities/characteristics, males often being less obedient and wanting to run off (hormones/testosterone probably have something to do with it at a guess).

This isn't true for every dog/breed obviously but I've heard about it enough times for it not to be unusual.

It's also how you bring them up and any traits they may or may not of got from there parents,G.parents etc.

My cats do things that blow my mind sometimes. I can have 3-4 identical containers in the fridge - 1 containing some sort of meat, 3 with veg/fruit/dairy/whatever. Open the 3 none-meat ones and nothing happens. Open the meat one and INSTANTLY you can hear them scrambling from all corners of the house. It's not the smell - it doesn't have time to reach them...it's an instant reaction. And even though the containers all sound the same when opened, they obviously hear very subtle differences. This can be bags, boxes, Tupperware....anything. After hearing the meat version just once they can tell it apart from identical containers. Every time.

Yeah, our cat used to know what was in tins before you opened them! :D

Perhaps more bizarre was if my parents were out and I was home with her, she'd go up to the front door and wait just several minutes before they arrived back. She never seemed to get this wrong, she'd get up and go to wait seemingly with some purpose, but this was several minutes before they got back. I don't believe that cats hearing could be so good that they could pick out a car engine tone from perhaps 1km away amongst other cars and other typical outdoors noise and through double glazing! Remains a bit of a mystery that one.

One of my cats does a similar thing. If you get a bowl and spoon out in the morning with the intention of having just cereal or fruit then nothing occurs. If you intend to put yoghurt on your breakfast then Albert is downstairs and by your side as soon as you take the bowls out the cupboard. Not been near the fridge yet, he just knows, every single time!

Dogs are magic because they make me happy. They make me happier than any person ever has, and I've never even had a dog! Just looking at the pictures and videos of puppies and doggies on YouTube makes me happy, and that much is nice, compared to stinking evil humans.

Dunno about magic but jack russells are awesomely strong little buggers! My mate has one and he is an wicked dog. As soon as I go round he runs off to get his toy for me to give him then he won't let it go lol! One day we were working on my mates pickup and he started to get a little annoying so my mate put his toy (loop of rope with ball on the end) over the towing hitch and he was moving the truck while playing with his toy. Granted the hand brake was off but this was a tiny dog moving a navara on his own! Awesome!
