I seem to remember receiving something from Intel stating that support for socket 775 would continue for two years. Have I misread something ? I cant find anything to confirm this.

I am sure I read somewhere that core 2's will be rebranded as i3 processors.. not sure if this is correct or not, but I am fairly positive I read this online..

775 will be around until 2011 but it will only be at the value end of the market, i.e Pentium Dual Core and Celeron, all the new mid range and high end chips will be released on 1156/1366.

Yup only as low end cpus im afraid. Despite that the core 2 duals and core 2 quads are currently holding their own in quite a lot of gaming benchmarks so for now, i really couldn't care less.
