Are messenger conversations saved? if so where?

I was asked to backup files off a laptop.
windows is cocked so i couldn't log in, so i just plugged the HDD into another PC.

I was asked to backup his MSN or windows live conversations?
Any idea how to do that?

i think there is a log of them, i have pulled up a few before tho i cannot for the life of me remember where! but i know there is a log of them

try looking thorugh the msn folders in 'program files'

Just had a look at my messanger and seems it doesn't save convo's by default unless you tell it to. But if you do the default location is as follows:

C:\Documents and Settings\**User**\My Documents\My Received Files\**MSN User Name Plus random Numbers**\History

You can change the directory where it saves them too.

Messenger Plus! has a better chat logging function than standard, can come in real handy. Plus gives you a ton of other options/features
