Are my Expectations Achievable?

I have recently returned a very well spec’ed Overclockers Special gaming laptop. It was a essentially -W370ST 17'’ LED FULL HASWELL. My personal spec was Intel Core I7-4800 2.7GHz / Samsung120GB ssd 840 / Seagate 500 hybrid / standard graphics card ie.,NVIDEA GTX 765 2GB / 16 GB KingstonHYPER X plug and play / together with a INTEL CENTRINO N6300 PCI EXPRESS Half Mini.
That I have to say was impressive. The price tag was also unbeatable.
My use for this monster is to work FSX with realistic add-ons and realtime weather together with true flight paths and all the bells and whistles. This was to be used on a regular basis when away fom home and keep me in good practice (tongue in cheek) like all 'good’ Sim Pilots. Still learning my craft.
Unfortunately when entering FSX the fans kicked in like a Jumbo rotating at the end of a runway 27L at Heathrow. I was dissapointed as this was my Christmas present to me. Are my expectations unrealistic or is ther something around £1000 out there that can give me the reality I seek. 17'’ screen would be ideal and Win 7 compatible.

All (well almost all) gaming laptops sound like a hair-dryer on full tilt when gaming.

Use GPUz & coretemp to monitor your temps while gaming - just to verify that the fans aren't cutting in too early (or your processors aren't being throttled).

If you are being throttled, could indicate an assembly issue - as the W370ST usually runs fairly cool.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering by upping the prosessor power to~ I7 2.7GHz The system should be left alone with the lower I5 2.5GHz or I7 2.4GHz for optimum heat dissipation. A bit like putting a 2 litre engine in a mini without improving the engine cooling ~ your thoughts?. I just wanted it to work for me but alas it didn't meet my criteria. I can tolerate fan noise even my watercooled units sometimes irritate but normally they behave

High wattage + small space = loud fans

I doubt any available CPU will make much of a difference to the overall noise when poked with a stick

Thanks BlkKnight, that's what I was thinking, there must be a sweet spot.
d brennen I think if someone turbocharged a few GHz into me I'd sing like a turbine LOL.

I found a cooling pad under my laptop helped quite a bit but there is always going to be a heat issue with a high end laptop.

could mod the lappy and put an ally base on it and connect that to the heat sync but that comes with its own issues and OFC a little risk.

Have seen one guy drill a hole in the bottom of the laptop and use a copper screw to attach a cooling pad to keep the temps down.
