I seriously think my ports are blocked. Here are the symptoms:

- www.lloydstsb.com doesn't work for me
- www.qvc.co.uk doesn't work for me
- No teamspeak servers work for me
- MSN doesn't work for me
- webmessenger.msn.com doesn't work for me
- Steam doesn't work for me

Is there a test I can do to comfirm this and ultimately, how can I fix this? I've tried restarting my router, fiddling with it but to no avail.

If it was "blocked ports", you wouldn't be able to post here either.

Who is your ISP?

Tiscali

Ok, so it's not blocked ports, is it most likely a problem with Tiscali?(the reason im not sure is because there should be a load of posts on Tiscali's BB forum full of angry customers and there isn't)

try open your command prompt and type: tracert website
in your case it would be tracert lloydstsb.com and see where if it cant connect to the lloydstsb site, or if it cant conenct to one of the hops along the way.

Assuming this has all worked OK in the past and its just recently started with you making no major changes on your PV or network, the most likely cause is a dodgy DNS server within your ISP in my experience. Try looking round for alternative public DNS servers you can use and see if that helps. Failing that it could be a backbone routing fault but there is little you could do about that. You could try talking to the Tiscali helpdesk but I doubt that they will be able to help.

Even if you could traceroute right the way through to the webserver (unlikely) its unlikely to give you any information that you can use. Even if you know where the packets get lost its not like you can do anything about it other than phone your ISP.

Ahh just read the thread properly, as FordPrefect says, possible DNS fault or MTU fault.

Please post modem or router type and its age :)

Depending on your ISP try changing the MTU in your router first then change DNS servers

AOL/Talktalk = 1400
Other ISP's = 1458/1492 etc

DNS Servers (OpenDNS)

Primary 208.67.222.222
Secondary 208.67.220.220
