Are my temps correct ?

I am running a 5820k OC'd to 4.4Ghz and cooled with a Corsair H100i.

Running Outlook and a browser (IE: Just light usage) CoreTemp is showing my temps on the hottest core (C0) as around 40-42C - However, playing Crysis 3 and Elite Dangerous, they still don't move up much (around 45C).

Is 40-42C normal when, basically, idling ?

What kind of temps should I be worried about this chip hitting ?

Many thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Hi there, non of that sounds right to me , really need to know what volts you're putting through it.

I'm sure one of our resident experts will be along to help out.

Oh and welcome to the forums:)

Thanks for the reply and the welcome :)

Runnning the AIDA64 System Stability Test, the temp goes between 70C and 80C btw.

Motherboard is an Asus X-99A

Cpu Core Voltage is 1.280V
Cpu Cache Voltage is 1.200V (flucuating)
CPU Input Voltage is 1.920V

(all above from inside BIOS where temps are still around 42C)

Clock is 4375Mhz
Multiplier is 35x
QPI is 125Mhz

Hope the above are of some help :)

That sounds high for the voltage and OC
I run mine at 4.6ghz at 1.35 and dont get above 60-65, not h100 though

Mine idles at room temp plus maybe a couple of degrees
