Sealed in my Sarcophagus.
To cut a long story short we have moved house and informed BT that we wanted the line ( number ) and broadband moving.

We get a date of 13th Feb for an engineer visit and we told them the property we are moving to had no BT line installed. No boxes, no line no nothing only an old NTL box.

Today we get a text saying

"there will be no need to visit your home we can activate it remotely. have a nice day!" or words to that effect.

bugger! seems we have chimps who cannot read!

I Phone up and get a nice lady and explain the situation, she gets hold of the engineers and is told

"Nope the customer is wrong, the system says there is a line so there is one... the system is NEVER wrong!"

So now i have had to escalate it with BT and am waiting ( probably forever ) for a call back once the monkeys realise that there actually is no physical line!

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It's not quite April fools yet.. But to answer your question, yes, BTOR are complete muppets.. (not all!)

So we finally get a line installed......... tinny, echoy voice and 1mbit connection! wish i hadnt bothered now.

If it's like that from the test socket I guess your only option is report it as a fault. To simplify things treat it purely as voice fault. Fixing the voice circuit will hopefully also sort the data side of things.

Obviously a bit late now, but with an existing NTL socket wasn't Virgin a viable option?
