Are Orange port throttling?

I'm thinking of switching from Nildram to Orange for the £5/month deal. I'm wondering if I'll be able to download torrents at full speed like I do with Nildram?

It's a budget/consumer'y ISP so the answer is of course they'll be putting all sorts of limits on you.

£5/month broadband will give you the right to download about 10 e-mails per month (9 of which are spam) and a couple Youtube clips*

* Exaggeration intended.

Orange are hopeless. Please, don't go there. As they say, you get what you pay for.

I am glad you are starting with the support side. This way you see how bad it is. (Tech Support is at 50p per minute with these same script reading idiots who are completely untechnical and hopeless.)

I was with Orange recently, having been with the same ISP through the Freeserve then Wanadoo days and I have to say, shortly after it became orange, my torrent speeds became very much slower, maxing out at about 50k even on a torrent with hundreds of seeds, where as it used to max out my connection at about 250k!!!

News group downloads were fine though.

one of my clients just recently started getting bills from orange BB. after having ditched freeserve for eclipse business a year or so ago.
orange just say "we are looking into the issue". its taken them 4 months so far and they are still billing. they had to get the bank to stop the payments.
then orange sent them a message saying that their bill had not been paid!!!

Have you tried enabling encription in the torrent download program. I wonder if that will increase the speed back up.
