Are people today too susceptible to group pressure?

On the back of police officers kneeling for BLM we now have this gem:

Met policewoman raises fist to cheer 'free Palestine' after hugging activist at London Gaza demo - as Scotland Yard launches probe into officer's 'impartiality'

I would've thought that remaining neutral in any given situation was one of the basic lessons of policing but it seems to be a struggle for many of them from what we've seen over the last year.

An unnamed officer raised her fist in the air and chanted outside Israeli embassy

What sort of message does this send to the Jewish community when you have yobs driving down their streets chanting about attacking their women?

Is it group pressure or are people simply unable to stand by principles and remain professional?

It's just pantomime. Expecting people to put on a uniform and suddenly act like a robot. It could be the police are struggling to recruit people also.

End of day though, whole thing is staged theatre.

People need a platform to pretend they are all high and mighty.

I have noticed that "apartheid" is the new in word of the week.

Good, I’m glad people are understanding how awful humans can be. By speaking up, and encouraging others to do so we can fight against those who wish to pull humanity down.

Fight! you mean sign an online petition.

Sure, that’s one way. It’s all about education really, views shift and change over time and unfortunately this can be very slow. It would be great if there were actions I could take to change the world instantly but that’s never going to work. However, I can state my views, and work with other similar people to create a louder voice. Sure, you aren’t going to change everyone’s mind but hopefully you will a few and progress can be made.

I think whenever we see ill in our world we should call it out if we can, don’t you?

There is definitely an increased pressure to be seen 'conforming' to whatever right-on message is currently on trend. Be that Metoo, BLM, #freePalestine or whatever.
Thinking back it wasn't always the case, for example back when plain old LGBT was a thing.

That's because you're OK to call someone a racist/homophobe/transphobe/saxomophobe without reproach on here or in the eyes of the law. However call someone any other name and it's a criminal offence these days!
