Are polyphonic ringtones just midi files

Just bowesing my phone and have found midi next to the polyphonic ringtones titles. Does this mean I just get Midi files off the net and use them as polyphonic ringtones?

If you know where to look you can find Hundreds of Midi files.. sometimes of some of the latest chart hits... for nowt (and its legal!!!)...

So Who's gonna pay the crazy frog and his mates £3/month and get stuck in a contract loop just for some ring tones any more!!!..

Well I've downloaded midis and put them on my phone and they work fine I just have one small problem they arn't very load and I'd prob not here my phone in a busy area I have my w800i on max volume to.

Is there any software or anything that will increase the audio volume of the midi files before I transfer them to my phone?

Thats why I use mp3's on my w800... I just find midi's too quiet!...

iirc some firmwares (mine's the original w800 firmware) had a volume problem that was sorted with the later ones!.

Emenem has just had a injunction passed to stop these companies using his songs for ringtones!... wonder who'll be next!... That'll probly push the prices up a bit more!..
