Are RAM Modules Bandwidth Limited (Overclock Query)

I'm overclocking my E6600 and seem to be continuously hamperered by my Corsair DDR 800 CAS5 RAM.

Bascially it seems that unless the memory bandwidth is less than 6500 as measured in Sisoft, I can't run Orthos stable.

So for instance,

8x401, so 1600 fsb, but RAM NOT overclocked is a NO NO - all sorts of errors, and Orthos unstable (but I know my CPU can take the 3.2 gig speed) Interestingly when running Sisoft Memory test - memory result is 6700 at CAS 5-5-5-18, when @ same settings with default CPU speed, result is only 6000.

9x370, 1:1, so RAM at 740, CAS5-5-5-18, so UNDER rated speed, and still unstable, and I'm almost sure its the RAM. Again Sisifoft result for RAM even at CAS5 is 6600.

Just seems from playing around that this is the case, so for instance you can push the RAM in CAS4 as far as it gets to about 6500 in Sisoft, then have to drop to CAS5, but obviously when you get to CAS5 there is nowhere else to go (CAS6 won't even post)

Am I trying to use the RAM out of spec when I'm trying to run it with say my CPU @ 3.3 gig, but RAM at only 740 CAS5 ? I don't think I am ? am I ? I don't remember reading anywhere in specs that DDR800 was only up to a specific FSB ?

thanks for any help,

Mark.
