I went in to this stationary yesterday to print something (yes I don't have a printer because I move too much and don't want to carry it), any way, I get there and they say that they don't print word documents, just JPEG and PDF, so I think err okay, you don't do word but you do PDF, weird.

I go back there today afterand even thou the computer is fully connected to the internet, I mean, I can see Firefox on it for goodness sake they say it must be off a USB stick, I don't have one so I ask if SD Card is okay, nope, apparently not, you print photos but not of SD cards.

It's the first time I've been to this store, does any one else go there for anything ?

Maybe they don't have a SD card reader and maybe they don't have Microsoft Office installed...?

They offer a photo printing service without an SD card reader? Come on!

USB Sticks for me are almost as outdated as CDs, in this day and age with Cloud, various online storages as well as free e-mail storage, who puts little word documents on CDs/USB Sticks any more

Tbh i wouldn't have even thought to go the Rymans for photo printing. I did go in there for some tinned wind and screen wipes and they wanted £10 :/

This is just a pure guess but it might be for copyright reasons. If they print just anything from the net then they dont know if you have rights over it. By downloading it they may be held accountable. But by insisting you physically bring the documents in then I assume the responsibility for any breach of copyright will remain with you.

I only use the Ryman's opposite work for postage, or for cards if I'm desperate. The place is ridiculously overpriced and the staff are knuckle-draggers.

I think (rather foolishly) they tend to insist on USB's rather than web printing due to security threats. Our school IT department also used to do it for some reason...

Not all that odd if they don't have Word or Libreoffice/Openoffice/other software installed. Just print to PDF with Bullzip, or CutePDF, or PDFCreator, or....well, there probably are more options but I can't see why those three would present a problem.

As for the USB stick thing - so buy a USB SD card reader from a pound shop. I mean, presumably you've saved more than a quid by not buying a printer so one of those won't break the bank? :p
