Are Shuttle PSU's special or are they just like normal psus?

My sisters shuttle psu has gone and i'm just wondering will the shuttle power up should I attempt to plug a normal psu into it or are they proprietary?

depends on the shuttle, the P series shuttles are proprietery, but the G series and below are all standard 20/24 pin i beleive.
