Are small phones gone forever?

I have just set up my daughters old Pixel 4 for my Nan to use because her phone broke. Compared to my Pixel 8 Pro it is feels tiny, but soooo nice. I had forgot how much nicer a small phone is to hold as use.
This has got me thinking now :D

I better get my order in for a refurbed mini before demand surges!

if you get an ip phone contract can always have the luxury of two phones and then taking the small one when you don't want bulk of a big one,
currently, just use ip phone for cheap outgoing intl calls, but need to research contract.

- I never carry one, anyway, running they are too bulky, for trouser pockets too, it's only tops I have with chest pocket where they are comfortable
small iphone I have is much less efficient for most tasks than a tablet one though, or doubly so a laptop

having two phones for banking apps and payment might be problematic ..... but I usually use a bank card, which fits in any garment/pocket

Have an old candy-bar gathering dust nokia those were the days

Did the whole big phone thing back in the mid 2000's. I'd rather have a fatter more powerful phone with a smaller screen than a slate like expensive tablet I'm supposed to carry around. Had to boot up my old Nokia 930 the other day and it felt great in the hand, that's what I'd love to go back to.

I’d happily sacrifice thickness for extra battery, something other than square blocks at the sides.

Phone used to be interesting designs, but by heck they are boring now.

I'm still using my Iphone SE from 2020 which is starting to get a little slow and i could do with more than 64gb of storage.
I’ve got the 16e now and it feels much bigger than the SE I had before. Really have to ‘reach’ for parts of the screen.

Edit - I am becoming a bit more used to it now though.

This is an annoyance for me too. Currently on a Pixel 4a and it's not great, but it does a good enough job. Shame Google pretty much bricked every 4a due to forcing a firmware update recently due to battery issues. I've managed to skip that so far, but the battery still took a hit despite the update not completing.

I can only hope someone sets the trend of small phones again, then others will follow.

I'm still using the 2020 SE as I also don't like big phones. I just had its battery replaced as it was on the way out and will likely keep this for as long as Apple keep supporting it. Hopefully there will be a similarly small Iphone out by that time.

That’s the beauty of the mini. It’s even smaller but the screen is a little bigger. Plus it gets Face ID etc.

Decided to get myself a 13 mini and replace my wife’s 12 mini with a 13 mini too.
That way we’re hopefully future proofed as long as possible in the hope the trend changes.
Seems the 13 mini is a step up from the 12 she currently has in battery life and we can get 128gb.
Currently both have 64gb and struggle a lot!

Finally hit buy on 2x Mini 13's for me and the wife. Around €290 each which i can live with. Especially since i should be able to recouple around 250 or so from selling our existing phones.
