The reason I ask is, cos I might upgrade my s939 board, cpu, and mem at the end of this year or the beginning of next.. I know what your saying "go intel" right? But do I need all that cpu power, not for crysis anyway, and its a cheap change over.

Basically if I went am2, how memy yrs to come could I upgrade the cpu on it?

Also will am2 boards like the Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe board support the latest cpu (Phenom cpus and anything else amd brings out) Cos that board does look nice, but does it perform as good as it looks?

Has anyone got this board, if so, Will I be able to fit a "Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro V2" or is the heatpipe in the way?

Who knows. I think AMD messed up my ditching s939. Not so long ago a64 s939 was king and to buy any other would have been silly. I dont think AM2 was a worthy upgrade from 939 for most users and thats one of the reasons why so many people went to core2duo. Killing off s939 was almost as bad as killing off AGP.

The main reason I want to upgrade is so I can have 4gb of mem, cos the s939 performs badly filling all 4 mem slots up.

I would say just wait a little longer, and see what AMDs quads are like, when they are released.

Your in the same boat Im in. Can you not clock the Opty 185 any more.

I would say upgrade the 1900 you will see an improvement.

ATM I am broke cant even afford to upgrade my x1900xt. I would oc my opty 185 more but the temps are rubbish on this cpu. The cpu isnt slowing things down at all at the moment cos crysis the latest game only uses 80% max of the cpu.

The only thing my sys struggles with is dirt, but I think something is conflicting somewhere cos with 6 -10 car races its smooth and chuggy, cant make up its mind, if that makes sense??

Might be able to afford this in 2weeks, but should I wait incase the Phenom cpus dont support the board? Will a "Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro V2" fit,or will the heatpipe be in the way? Also will any mem slots be blocked with the cooler?

Like a few months ago I upgraded from 1gb to 2gb of corsair 3500LL pro ddr mem, with the leds, costing £160. Spent loads on this dam pc theses last few months

Im getting really p*** with my system, feel like putting a hammer right thought the darn thing. Sincehaving my opty 185,, winxp just reboots when torrent download like over 50k/sec or something like that. Ive tried diff torrent progs but xp still reboot.. Also it reboots with the g15 keyboard software when it loads,, but ive sorted that by delaying the keyboard software from booting up for 25secs.

Ive just gone bak to vista cos I have no probs with random reboots, But Ive just tried crysis with vista, and the performance is much worse then xp, and ive pre ordered crysis.

So basically I cant win whatever I do, and Im really getting fed up with reinstalling windows all the time to try to fix my probs, so Ive basically given up with my sys, and Im going to see if I can borrow £300 to get a system that actually works. What do you think of this

Im thinking about degrading the cpu to a 3ghz, then overclocking it to 3.2ghz, to save a bit of money.

Is that memory any good at overclocking?

Edit :Also whats the diff between the M2N-SLi Deluxe and M2N32-SLi Deluxe boards? because apparntly the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro cooler dont fit too well on the M2N32-SLi Deluxe

as has already been said you' be silly not to go with intel, either a nice cheap e2180 and overclock it or a quadcore and any of the decent P35 boards, the ram you already picked should be fine although i have the non dhx 5-5-5-18 stuff and it runs at stock volts at 4-4-4-12

to go with amd at this time would be wasting money, much more performance per £££ on intel and less issues i find aswell

Ok spec my a cpu, good overclockable motherboard and memory for £300 or less if poss, I got the amd sys down to £230. Remember I can upgrade the cpu for a better 1 later, I just want a system that works??
