Are sofas ALWAYS on sale?!

Argh..everytime i watch TV, there are always adverts for sofas being on sale..what the hell?

Um..a point to the thread, any adverts that annoy you..i guess?

I just wanted to rant. :(
 
people are idiots, they think that when places like DFS say sale, it's any cheaper than the other 50 million sales that they have.
 
Sofas are always on sale, until Sunday.

The fact that they start again on Monday is apparently irrellevant, so long as its technically a different sale, it gets around certain laws regarding sales. :mad:

Needs to be cut down on IMO.

I can remember a time when the DFS advert always used to come on each week...

It would say " Sale ends this sunday " but then It would be on the next week, and the week after !
 
not applicable right now but i really hate the "must end this weekend" adverts. :mad: :p

edit: bah humbug to the posters above. i'm too slow. :p
 
This was the topic on a panaroma programme a while back.

They get away with it as the sofa's that are allways in the sale are listed at full retail in the salesmans price guide several weeks before they hit the store.

So legally they never have to have a full price sofa in the shop!
 
I can't be bothered to go look for the .jpg so just go to Sofa King, where prices are Sofa King Low! I'm sure someone with far more motivation than me will post the pic soon.
 
It's a season thing, Like fashion.

They sell off last season, So essentially Yes, they always are having sales, But only because it's to get rid of "out of fashion" stock. But considering half the universe don't really care much for the fashion of the season. We grab a bargain. Well...I wouldn't say a bargain, I mean come on, Who sits on last seasons sofa....

Ive heard the rules for 'sales' mean that as long as a company has an item at full price in ONE STORE for 30 days they can then put it on sale after those 30 days in ALL stores. I guess this lets them rotate stock so yes, something will always be on sale.

Another reason for loving sky plus...i havent seen one sale all christmas :D :p
 
.....so has any poor sap ever paid full whack for a dfs sofa? :eek:

you'd have to be the unluckiest/stupidest guy in the world to catch them when they haven't got a sale on. :p
 
Has anyone else noticed the penguin in the current DFS advert? and if you have, have you like me wondered WHY??????

haha Yeah iv been saying that today. DFS get on my nerves.....wait for the Extended january sale...and then the febuarary sale etc etc..

ah well :D
 
The same with most things these days

I never buy anything big/electrical unless its A) in a sale or B) Urgent

So often these days it pays to wait be patient save up and pay cash
