Are some game plots getting too confusing/convoluted?

I may be the only one, but I quite like Valhalla and how some of the side quests mirrored the main quest like a retelling of history. Same with odessy but I enjoy Greek mythology. Cyberpunk is good as is the Witcher 3. Remedy games seem to be pretty good in this respect as do Rockstar I think that some studios just storyboard out an entire quest line and try not to add too much to it and don’t deviate once it’s set.

Bioware, Bethesda I'm guessing after Starfield. Maybe not minorities but they have decided to tick off boxes over having the most talented people.

Even Baldur's gate 3. Great game and largely well written. But they try to railroad the player in to gay sex.

As for TV, pretty much everything on domestic channels has suffered from box ticking exercises. The programming is awful now which is why the BBC is seeing so many license cancellations.

This sounds very much like a 'you' problem. Although Railroad to Gay Sex is a great band name.

Couldn't agree more.

I have radio 2 on for my alarm only as I can't be bothered to change it, whoever the girl is now, Zoe Ball (had to Google that if that proves something ) but her response to everything is "that's nice" dare say anything actually feels, so fake. The co-presenter is clearly a wooly woofta as well. The whole thing is woke as anything.

Thats about the only anything produced by BBC I have anything to do with, don't watch TV really now.

Unfortunately, most game developers make the story of a game to be far less important then gameplay, graphics etc. And to be fair, who really plays games like Far Cry, Crysis, Assassins Creed for the story anyway. It's all be said and done before. I can't remember the last time I gave a **** about a story apart from The Walking Dead which was excellent. It's like watching an action film, you just want to get to the action and cut out the crap in-between.

Just played Control on the PS5 and it's an excellent game, but I am totally confused by the story line in that one. It's trying to be different I suppose, but it all seems to be a bit weird.

Mirage's plot wasn't that confusing was it? Again, hard to talk about it without spoilers but it wasn't anything more mental than the usual Assassins Creeds plots.

There are other games that have way more confusing plots - and I also sort of ignore the plot in Assassins Creed now (stopped caring after the Desmond saga) and just play it to be a sneaky assassin boi. I never felt confused by the ending of Mirage though...

See my post from the Mirage thread here:
I've just completed this.

I had no ******* idea what was going on at the end. I had to read Wikipedia to try and make sense of it but even that didn't really help. It turns out Basim was a character in Valhalla and was really Loki? And Basim in this has been released from prison or something?

The scary thing is that I played Valhalla, and I don't even remember Basim in that game! The trouble is the plots are so labyrinthine and when spread over 100+ hours of gameplay that I don't tend to retain the story very well. It doesn't help that I last played Valhalla 2 1/2 years ago (April 2021)

I don't have issues remember movies though.
