are speaker cables that ship with Loggy Z5500s good enough? (using Asus Xonar D7.1)

Am expecting a replacement set of the Loggy Z5500s anytime now (previous ones were popping etc)..

As I remember these speakers are THX certified but come with bog standard 24guage copper cables...

I currently have my room wired with MonsterXP (16guage or lower) cables that I was using with my old loggies...

however these cables have developed a green gunk over them (oxidation), pretty much along most of the length of the cables, and I have been told that clarity of sound may be affected..

now should I just use the new 24guage cables that come with the speakers?

Are these good enough to carry the sound to the THX certified speakers, with output from an Asus Xonar D7.1?

Or would I be better off using my current (oxidised) monster green goo cables?

cheers

just use your green goo cables just make sure that both tip of the cables is clean.if your in doubt try both cables.you might not be able to tell the diff. what matter most is the cable size, the bigger the better and the lower the cable impedance.

well just rexamined my green goo cables and it seems that they are not as bad as I thought in terms of the green gunk... I'd say about 50% are oxidised...tips seem clean but a darker colour (orange/brownish) as opposed to the clean copper colour you should get

A metal cleaning product such as Brasso will clean them up nicely. You won't hear a difference between the cables for these speakers but might as well use the larger cable as it sounds like its already installed :)

You might have some difficultly fitting big cables into the spring-clip terminals on the z5500s though...
