Are SuperDry Windcheater coats...

Had the original superdry jacket for 2-3 years now and its falling apart now. Think that's fair wear and tear considering how much i wear it.

If you want a decent water proof jacket you need to pay extra (if you want to make sure you have something good that lasts).

I wear a Northface jacket on the days when it is absolutly pouring down. Bought it maybe 5 years ago now and still looks like new.

If you're after a decent waterproof jacket then the Rab Drillium is worth a shout. Although, it's possibly not the best idea over the winter if you don't intend on any more layers because it's very thin and breathable.

While on the topic. Can anyone recommend a decent warm and waterproof jacket that I can wear over the winter. Since I sold my car I have to walk a lot and whilst my Rab jacket is pretty much all I need for the rain it's not the best for conserving body heat. I'm willing to pay up to about £250-300 to ensure it's good quality.

Cheers.

North Face McMurdo Parka. Probably one of the warmest waterproof coats you can get. It's an absolute monster, though.

This SuperDry stuff is not actually super dry, then? Weird that it's got such a following then, I can walk around pretty much any town centre for fifteen minutes and see three or more people wearing their stuff.

Very similar (maybe even the same but in dark green) the only issue I have with this jacket is that it does get VERY warm after a short while.

Thanks for the suggestion but I think that one might possibly be a bit too full on. It looks very warm but it also looks like it could be a bit too bulky and I don't really like how long the torso is. Any other recommendations?

Yeah you are right it is bulky when I wear it which is why I have another jacket that I use most of the time.

I suggested North face as they don't just do coats but jackets too. Just a brand you might want to check out.

Blacks had a buy 1 north face item get 1 free earlier this week, might still be going on.

I just bought myself an Berghaus RG1-Insulated. The none-insulated version is going quite cheap in Millets and Blacks at the moment at ~£50-60.

Cheers for the heads up. I just checked out some North Face stuff and found the Hawthorn Jacket, which looks like a smaller version of the one you have.

The North Face Gotham looks prety nice, too.

Same can be said of North Face gear as well.

I can think of a large number of people I work with who will put on the tech-est of North Face Jackets when there is bad weather, despite never setting foot outside of London, let alone actual mountains!

Just get a north face windproof/waterproof and be done with it. Fashion brands are not known for waterproof performance so try the outdoor types who are.

I recently bought a nike jacket...very nice indeed...
I also have a superdry jacket but i dont think id feel confident in anything more than a shower.

I don't know for sure but I think the one I have might be water-proof more so than the others. It is clearly made from a different material to the others as I sound like a rustling crips packet when I move in it :(

I tell you what, I spend a lot of time on the river in the ******* rain, and I've gone through a lot of "waterproof" gear to find something that will keep me dry.

Other then sailing gear which just isn't practical in a racing shell, I've only found one waterproof shell worth the money, that thats the Sprayway Hydrolite. Very thin and lightweight - easily fit over a nice fleece, waterproof and windproof.

Keela Munro Jacket! Warm, dry and toastie. £160, or if you are lucky enough to live near the Keela Factory shop in Glerothes then £90 or so depending on what they have in stock.
