Regarding the available overclocked bundles on the site do these come fully assembled? Is the processor, memory and cooler fitted prior to dispatching? And do you receive any documentation confirming the stability testing?

Many thanks.

Hello

I believe the CPU and Ram are fitted but not the CPU cooler. With regards to documentation on stability I would imagine this is not provided.

If you post in the Customer Service forum you'll get an accurate response from a member of staff as this thread may get missed otherwise.

Mr Yellow is correct for transportation reasons we can't fit the cooler.

No we don't include any documentation on stability testing. Usually the bundles are tested on Window 7 using LinX for 8 hours, We use a graphics card to confirm that the pci slots work and we make sure all memory is detected.

However one of the tech guys is developing some auto testing software which when completed we will be using which will take screen shots of results etc but that is a work in progress.

Hi CtnMorgans,

Recently got this bundle: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-116-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512

The CPU and RAM were installed but the heatsink (and associated motherboard fixings) weren't.

Overclockers obviously know that X, Y and Z components can work at X speed so they just fit a basic cooler to get to the BIOS then once set they shut it down and ship it off.

The heatsink fittings were complicated and a bit fiddly in places so be prepared for that if you've not done it before.

Also, as I'm discussing in this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18508762 I wrongly used the stock thermal compound, I've since swapped it over to the Arctic Silver compound provided and the difference is DRASTIC - around 35% cooler! (check out my screenshots).

So make sure you're not too eager and install it with the wrong thermal compound ;)

i'm thinking of getting a pre-built soon - i assume they come overclocked already?
what about OS - do you just get the disks to install yourself or is anything already installed?
i assume the first answer is yes and the second is no.
just trying to get a feel for what happens - i've built my own in the past but can't be bothered this time.

Bundles are fully built other than the CPU cooler. Which you install yourself.

A pre-built system has the OS and all relevant drivers installed, it literally is plug and play. The OC is already tested and loaded.

This is depending on whether you have selected an OS and an overclock for the relevant system :)

You are given the spare Windows discs and driver discs but they are just for back up and aren't necessary for setting the PC up.

thats good to know thanks.
i'll have some more questions but not a few weeks - i need to buy a new mattress first, then its a new PC :)

The stock compound is fine, you just put it on wrong so the contact was no good at all.
I think with bundles OcUK should ship a little leaflet/piece of paper with how to apply compound correctly.
