Are the conroes 64bit?

which begs the question - has there been much 64 bit comparisons between X2's / Opty's and Conroe's?

I guess as Vista hasnt got anywhere near optimisation the only real way would be through Linux or a varient which wouldnt be much use to anyone.....

Maybe the Intel would end up on top again, but it isnt certain - is it?

I've seen a few reports that Conroe's are pretty good at 64bit work, certainly they dont have the same problems as P4's in 64bit mode.

I believe that if you compare 64bit performance of Conroe and AMD64, then clock for clock the chips are a lot closer than in 32bit mode. However I believe its still a 'slight' win for Conroe in most scenarios.

So in windows vista (64 bit obviously) the conroe might take a performance hit? Because thats the only way it would be made 'closer' to the AMD64.

Can anyone look into this?

He was just speculating. Wait for some 64-bit benchmarks to become available :)

Yep will wait to see some confirmed results, hopefully they will be just as impressive (or more) in 64bit apps! We will see.

Cheers.
