Are the days of paying full price for a PC game now over ??

I think there's just too many fairly-good-but-not-amazing games about to justify spending £30+ on one game. Games that I could happily play or happily skip. It's not really any different on the consoles. The £40 thing is not really true at all. You can buy most newish games for £15-20. I bought Max Payne 3 from the Steam sale for £7.49 but the PS3 version is only £13.85 anyway or £10 is you are lucky enough for a certain supermarket to have stock.

Last game I paid full price for I think was Gear of War 3, can't remember what I padi full price for prior to that. Some of my recent thoroughly enjoyable game experiences have been dirt cheap older games Bastion I think being Amazing for the money I paid think it was £2.86 or something. Dishonored also gets a mention (and GOTY for me) but I managed to pick that up for a tenner in Asda :)

Console games prices drop like a rock within weeks, PC gaems normally available at decent prices when preordered. Then we come to the key selling sites like GMG and SimplyGames surely the way forwwards!

Games are made faster and don't last like they used too so they should be cheaper, gone are the days where you and your buddies will stick with a game for 1-2 years they last 5 months at most these days before the next big thing

The problem for developers is the costs associated with producing games are far higher than they used to be, hence why most series tend to be so much shorter.

The only PC game I can see myself paying full whack for next year is Total War: Rome 2. I would have thought about Sim City, but it doesn't seem like it's gonna be very good.

Sales are just good to resist. The other day I got Sleeping Dogs for just over £3! You cannot lose at prices like those.

Prices are going up and games are becoming more of a let down, after DA2 i havent bought anygame at full price, only games i pre-ordered recently was fm13 and thats because i got it for £12 but even then it was a let down.

I still pay full price once in a while, a few recent ones i can think of offhand are:

Torchlight 2
Borderlands 2
Deus Ex

I'll pay full price for X3: Rebirth when it releases, been waiting for it so long i'll gladly pay to get my hands on it. I can't think of anything else upcoming that i'd be bothered with at launch other than online games like Battlefield 4, sales like Steam's (previous ones not this one) have given me more games for next to nothing than i could possibly play over the next year or two that new games generally aren't as appealing anymore.

24 years ago i was paying £20 for an amiga game. I rarely pay more than a tenner for a pc game now.
I got hyped up for dragon age then it came out, bought the books (loved em) I wonder why more games dont have books made about them, or like in the case of Metro 2033 games made about them. Id pay the extra to get into the hype, but ill never pay £60+ for a special box set for a game.
