Specifically disciples 3 and resurrection.

I enjoyed kings bounty and want something similar, will this fit the bill?

It looks a bit like a darker more mature version of kings bounty, am I on the right lines?

Thanks.

Absolutely. Initially the reviews for Disciples 3 were horrible, but it's reportedly been well patched although it took a long time. I held off myself for a long time because of the reviews.

However, as an avid fan of Disciples 2, I have to say that after finally starting D3 properly recently, I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad they've kept the same bleak, dark art direction because that was half the fun of the previous games in my opinion.

I might not have played it enough to encounter the problems that reportedly plagued the game in its early days, but I haven't regretted diving in so far. If you liked King's Bounty, go for it.

As above, the first two were good. I bought Disciples 3 on sale a while back and have to say it wasn't too bad, at least the first several hours or so. Can't fault the art style, loved it. The biggest issue I had with it was the shear repetition after the freshness wore off....I got to the stage where I thought, what's the point? It just lacked the compelling gameplay and soul that Disciples 1 and 2 had.

It's not exactly like the Kings Bounty series gameplay wise. They are more rpg oreinted where Disciples is a mixture of base building/strategy and a bit of rpg. Although the tactical battles feel more fleshed out in Kings Bounty series than Disciples 3 (this comes back to the repetition I was talking about). Disciples is more similair to Heroes of Might and Magic series. Infact Heroes VI only recently came out. Might want to check that out too :)

Yeah, this is a crucial point, as I have learned to my cost. I tried to play through the first Empire mission as an RPG and very quickly got my arse kicked. You have to play it more like a strategy game, eking out every bonus from the map, exploiting runes etc. Otherwise you'll quickly come up against enemies you just can't kill.

Yeah just got heroes 6 and that's filling my turn based rpg needs nicely.

I did buy resurrection on gmg because it was so cheap but not got round to it yet.

I have all the KB games but I find them a bit cutesy for my tastes, although they appear to be solid games.

The prices pretty much everyone are charging for Resurrection are shocking! I know it's standalone but it's just one campaign compared to the three you get in Renaissance!
