Are the GA_P35C_DS3R and E2180 compatible out of the box?

Hi,

I'm about to buy a GA_P35C_DS3R and a E2180 but Gigabyte don't currently list it as a compatible CPU? I'm guessing this is down to it only just being released.

Does anyone know of any issues?

Thanks

James

dont no about issues but normally if it is the same socket theres a very good chance they will work together, you could mail/contact gigabyte to find out :)

The only board I can find confirmed that this chip works in is the Asus P5K, which is the P35 chipset as well. SGWills pretty much states what I would think as well, being pretty much the same chip as a E2140/E2160 and just slightly faster it'll probably just slot right in... but best to double check with Gigabyte.

I have queried it with them but I've not heard anything back and I've read a few posts where people are looking at buying the E1280 so I thought I'd ask here.

I'll post when I receive a response.

I received the following reply from Gigabyte this morning.

"Unfortunately the E2180 CPU is still under testing. We have no definate answer on this CPU compatibility for time being. Please keep check on Gigabyte website update. Sorry for any inconvenience."

Has anyone had any experience with this combination?

I'm running a P35-DS3R with this chip. I've literally just gotten it up and running, overclocked to 2.3GHz to check and it's quite happy. Having a sort of double-boot issue though, looking into it now.

Edit:

In case you haven't seen in the other thread I've posted, the boot fault was due to me being a numpty. I've seen a lot of people with the P35C have issues with booting, but the standard DDR2 DSR3 seems to be more reliable.

That's good to hear. I just wish I could get mine to turn on!

I think my PSU is duff as I press the power button and nothing happens and I tried out of the case as well
