Are the Hyper X Cloud II still the "goto" headset?

I already have one, but the cable is broke from the headset. I would say poor quality cabling but difficult to prove.

Anyhow, even when looking at £150 headsets, the discussion still comes back to the cheaper Cloud II.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Cloud 2’s for the money are great! I used to own a pair and the identical qpad qh90’s before that. I’ve now moved to the dt770 pros with a mod mic and the sound quality is deffo a step up. You can get the setup for less that £150 with the mic.

If it's any consolation mine are on their last legs, mostly on me because i can't help but run over the cable or snag it by mistake (happens with every headset) try as i may to avoid doing so.... Wireless set next for me, probably the Arctis from Steeleries, if they're still sounding good next time i get the chance to test them out (the old boy has some), even if it means a dip in some quality (as long as games and movies sound decent and not terrible, works for me).

They were particularly great because they were easy to find on discount. Perhaps they still are? I picked a set up for €35 a couple of years ago.

They're a rebrand of a respectable Chinese model - Takstar Pro 80. In terms of value / fidelity I'd estimate they'd stack up pretty well against any cans you can get for around £70-£100. The signature sounds v shaped with a noticeable kick in the low end - a solid headset for gaming.

I see there's a new wireless version with an RRP of $150? I think that's a little rich imo.

Sennheiser GSP300’s are available for £60 elsewhere and are brilliant. Mine have lasted me nearly three years and are still going strong.

I have a pair of these in the house and they are a good headset.

I already have two pairs of Cloud II's in the house for the kids so thought would try something different. Plus, the braiding I have found to be iffy at best and over years, have had problems with cabling/loose connections.

Against my better judgment, I got a pair of Razer Kraken Tournament Edition for £50 new. For the record, I consider Razer to be garbage. I only got them as thought to try them as something different and the lime green is fun.

The mic is better than I expected and the overall sound quality is good, compareable to the GSP300, which I personally find better than the Cloud II's as they are not as bass heavy.

The USB soundcard/DAC included with the Kraken TE does not do the phones justice though.

Connected them to a Creative G6 and my goodness... they come to life.

I will probably get a Xonar for the other PC these are used with. Just need a 4 pole adapter to split to 2 x 3.5mm jacks for PC use... OR, might just get another pair of GSP300's... again though, would still need a soundcard as on the onboard audio, they underperform with the mobo I have.
