Are the Q9550s rubbish overclockers?

Some ppl say they wont be too great but no one knows.

Its just cos I might be thinking to get 1, is that a bad move? Cos I was expecting to get at least 3.2 out of it.
 
Might join it up with a "Abit IN9 32X-MAX WiFi NF680i SLI" board if I have the funds for a new system buld that is, cos my current sys wont be any good,, see in sig,
 
what top end motherboard would u recommend then? cos I will be keeping the board/system for at least 3yrs, so its going to be seeing a few graphic cards

edit: memory slots must be well away from cpu, cos will be using a freezer.
 
So the 680i boards deff wont work with a Q9540 or Q9550, cos Im trying to make it future proof, cos if I get this system It has to last me a good 3yrs, and the board needs to take whatever I thow at it.
