I have hive which is great, but all the titles out are cheap indie titles with no long term content. they are ok for 30min or an hour and then ive had enough. I go back to my other pc and startup BF4.

50% of the titles are scumbags just trying to milk the "VR" market. Some are so bad they actually should have not got into steam in the first place.

The small indie games are great and should be kept up,, but have I just paid £700 (plus a pascal GPU) to shoot a few card board zombies and play 3d pong

The only AAA title I know is ELITE, but this doesn't work in my living room, its more of a seated at pc desk game , plus the fact I need to use a joystick and I have a custom control panel..

I have seen a UBISOFT game about flying eagles but that's about it

I agree, really need more AAA titles with depth, something like skyrim to lose yourself for hours and days

Well Forgotten Realms is a great, albeit 1 to 2 hour experience as is The Gallery. Budget Cuts would look like the first AA experience coming.

Personally I love jumping out of experiences with Holopoint my current favourite.

I'd have to agree OP. If there aren't any fully fledged, quality titles coming out soon i may have to reconsider keeping the Vive.

I do like it a lot, but if it's just super-simple games then i'll have to sell and come back in a year or two.

Elite : Dangerous, Project Cars, I believe that's it at the moment.

As for FPS, I don't think there's anything fully fleshed out. Doom would be a great candidate, however they don't seem to be interested. If Carmack stayed at ID, then we'd have that, for sure :)

Minecraft I guess, I Racing, Asseto Corsa, Dirt Rally, DCS should be coming with full support. No Man's Sky, Alien Isolation, Battlezone maybes and speculative.

As for room scale, and indie, Budget Cuts, Space Pirate Trainer, Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption, looks to be the furthest ahead on the Vive front, and that's not saying much.

On the Rift, Chronos, Adrift, Lucky's Tale, Eve Valkyrie, again, similar story.

Nothing really compelling. VR is too niche to be the sole driving force behind a AAA project. But, it should still be possible to get great VR as added value (see Alien Isolation, Project Cars, Minecraft). Getting the big developers' interest piked is sort of the problem at the moment.

If FSX or P3D are considered AAA titles these have really good support via FlyInside. It's damn immersive with a DK2. I'm sadly a late June delivery, for my CV1, so currently missing out on the full experience.

Redbull air race is another game on the way with built in VR support and should have high production values. The early Beta is promising, and if SMS build in the same level of VR UI polish that Project cars has then it should be a great overall experience.

Other than that I think Olivier Renault listed most of the big names. If you are into it then I believe the devs of the upcoming Space Hulk: Deathwing are keen to build in VR support, but from what I recall it was basically a "If we can get it to work as an experience" - I assume they are referring to the fact that FPS can be a bit of a barf factory experience in VR.

I would LOVE to see VR support in Dawn of War III and other RTS type games. Having had a quick go at AirMech Command I think the added impact of seeing all your units in 3d like a table top game is huge and makes the experience much more fun.

Of course there is always VorpX....

VorpX + Skyrim anyone ??

After mentioning VorpX is occurred to me that perhaps not everyone knows what it is and might assume its a game.

So for those that don't know, VorpX is a piece of software that allows you to play most "current" games in some way shape or form on your VR headset. That ranges from full VR to playing on a virtual cinema screen in 3d or 2d.

So if you want to play battlefield 3/4, GTA V, fallout 4 etc in your rift then you need to get VorpX to do so... I haven't tried it personally myself although I am tempted to give it a go when I have some time. I'm sure it's not the same experience as playing games that are designed from the beginning to support VR, but certainly better than nothing.

Star citizen? Been a goal for a long time to make it VR. Last I saw they had got a Vive I think or it was a rift... but they plan on making them both work and considering how big star citizen is now.. That's a good title :D

you make a good point about the disconnect between room scale and desk usage, needing a 9 sqaure meter space or what not usually precludes having a desk setup in the same room

Thats one thing that struck me about the vive is how difficult it must be to move it from one room to another

But yea if your looking for depth its mostly sims at the moment, which come with additional hardware costs

I've used stereo injectors before ( what vorpx is ) to varying degrees of success, its unreliable and the results are never as good as a native program, its more for the developer / modding inclined person
