However its so rare and expensive you'd be better off buying an X38.

Or cheaper, why not just get a normal P35 and a 3870X2... Crossfire on one card via your 16X slot.

Well, I just got 2 3850's yesterday for playing with crossfire on my current P35.

Today the primary pci-e slot has died on me.

So I don't really want to be spending any money, but got no choice. Was hoping for the cheapest option...

Then i'm afraid its either new P35 or cheapest X38, as the ASUS Blitz sells for silly money.

They are have 2 16x pci-e lanes and the better ones should hit +400fsb

x975 are 8x in CF arn't they?

Well, turns out it was not the slot, but the power cable I was plugging into the top card. Its a modular supply, and the one pci-e does not clip in properly. Purely by luck that I discovered that this was actually the problem.

At least now I don't have to fork out a whole lot for a new motherboard
