Are there any programs to control my 8600GT fan?

My 8600GT has a really noisy fan which seems to be spinning way too fast.

Can anyone suggest a program that will enable me to control the speed of the fan?

I have a silent system and it's great, but my graphic card is letting it down by giving off a horrible humming noise.

I've tried RivaTuner and Ntune but both don't work. The fan doesn't change at all when I try to manually slow the speed down.

Thanks anyway.

Have you set up your profiles correctly though? Works fine here for that. Does the fan not slow down at all?

Can you just slow them down manually to try them? Here:

Yep, tried all that. My brother uses the same program for his 8800GTX and it works perfectly using exactly the same features in the program on his card.

This is a great way to control the fan in an 8800GT, way better than profiles and easier to set up. Hopefully it should work with an 8600GT.

Ok I've just done a bit more reading. Basically the 8600GT only comes with a 2 pin fan connector meaning the fan can NOT be controlled.

Gutted, it's so noisy!

K, sell it and get a 4850 or 4870, sorted! :)

spend 12 quid and slap an accelero s1 rev2 cooler on to the 8600gt and run it passive. no noise at all and temnps will be below 60c even running passive, mate has one on his 8600gt.

Sent the 8600GT back and ordered a passive one. £5 extra. Passive card is GDDR3 as well, not that I think it makes much difference? Same clock speeds etc.
