So here's a discussion to have. Do you think there are actually any properly fixed matches? We're not talking about a player getting sent off or purposely shooting wide. As in where there are enough players involved in the fix that they really can fix the match? I suppose a single player such as a Goalie could fix a simple bet such as No Clean Sheet but an actual result? A Goalie can't influence a win for your team, so if someone says a match is fixed to finish in a particular score, are they lying or is there really that much corruption in football? Wouldn't influencing a match in such a way need at least 2 or 3 players from each side to have enough of an effect on the result? And surely someone would realise and disagree with what's going on and report it?
Now I really doubt that in the major European leagues there's much match fixing going on, the players are paid enough that £10k from a corrupt bookie isn't really going to sway them, but some of lower foreign leagues, perhaps South America where even a full time player in, say, Brazil's Serie B wouldn't earning a huge amount so an offer of 2-3 months wages to miss all your shots or fluff a clearance or two in the hope your opposition scores would bee very tempting. An example, I'm a member of a fun punters group on FB and they were all chatting about a game played tonight in Brazil's Serie B and the chat was 3-0 was pretty much nailed on and although the home team did go 3-0 up and I cashed out £32 from £5 it actually finished 3-1. Was this game fixed or was I just lucky? I guess if it was truly fixed then it would have finished 3-0 right? Anyway, thoughts?
