I want a screen that can have multiple inputs all in use at once

Basically i want to be able to for example connect the monitor up to 4 PCs at once and see a quater of the screen for each PC, kind of like the way camera software works but i want it on a monitor :p

Is there anything out there like this?

Would come in really usefull in our office when we're trying to image multiple machines with different images, rahter than having to unplug the monitor from one pc and connect it to the next etc

Sounds like what you really want is a KVM switch. They let you plug multiple machines into one monitor+kb+mouse and switch between them using either a button on the switch itself or a key combination on the keyboard.

2 port ones are very common and 4 port ones are fairly easy to find too. They do exist in larger sizes but are a bit harder to get as home users typically don't need any more than 2 or 4 ports.

ah well we have an 12 port KVM here but the sheer amount of cables to use and the fact you can still only see one screen at a time is a bit of a pain

thought it would be nice to have a monitor like i mentioned so that its easy enough to use the front USB ports to switch over mouse/kb (our 12 port KVM uses PS2 ports which means leaning round the back all the time) and just have to plug in the monitor leads and still be able to see whats happening on all 4 PCs at once

I think you may have to use an external video mixer to get more than 2 sources at the same time.

I know the NECs with multiple inputs can at least show one additional source as PIP, but they usually only have 2 DVI + 1 VGA, and only one secondary source at a time. Don't know how flexible it is though, I doubt you can split the screen any way you want (I've only seen it as one full screen and one smaller "window".

A moment's googleing produces... http://www.nti1.ca/quad-splitter.html

However... (brace yourself)... that costs $4,288 ...!

For 150 quid you can get a very basic composite video quad-splitter from Keene, but that wouldn't very good resolution and would need a composite out (analogue phono) from each machine.

How about 4xRemote Desktop windows for a software solution...?

most kvm's have a keyboard method of switching between inputs.

Mine is double tap scroll lock and then up or down arrow to cycle through.
